RGS UK and RGS International

For 350 years, Reigate Grammar School has been at the heart of the community, nurturing young minds and shaping futures. So now, let’s celebrate that rich history and build towards an even brighter future.
Reigate Grammar School UK (RGS-UK) was founded by Alderman Henry Smith in 1675. For over 345 years, young people have been educated on the same site, in the heart of Reigate, a historic market town 15 miles south of the City of London. RGS-UK is recognized as the premier co-educational independent day school in the UK, offering the very best academic education with equal prominence placed on the arts, sport and a rich extra-curricular programme.
In recent years, RGS-UK has continued to earn national acclaim for its excellence and innovation. In 2025, it was named Independent Secondary School of the Year by The Sunday Times, celebrating its ability to foster happy,
curious and high-achieving students. The school has also taken a forward-thinking approach to education, integrating AI-powered private tutors to enhance personalised learning. As part of its 350th anniversary celebrations, RGS hosted a spectacular concert at Guildford Cathedral, reflecting its deep-rooted heritage and ongoing dedication to the arts.
These achievements build on past accolades, including the 2021 Tatler School of the Year award and recognition for Wellbeing and Pastoral Care at the UK Independent School of the Year Awards. RGS-UK remains a leader in holistic, world-class education and continues to pioneer the High Performance Learning (HPL) approach, nurturing global citizens, advanced performers, and enterprising learners.
